Trouble starts at State’s training camp when two obnoxious sophomores, nicknamed the Touchdown Twins, become more interested in personal glory than in team play. This leads to a showdown with Chip. The antagonism grows and eventually engulfs the entire squad to such an extent that an important game is lost. It appears that State’s defense of the conference title is hopeless. But Chip, playing in every game despite an injured shoulder, inspires the team to keep fighting. Through it all, Chip finds time to help a confused high school football star, Skip Miller, make the biggest decision of his life and struggles to convince the Touchdown Twins that you can’t win without team play and a tough, hard-hitting spirit.

You tell 'em, girl!" one of the guys at the fence yelled out, and the others started laughing. The three guys didn't look like they thought it was that funny. Actually, it wasn't. This was no laughing matter. And getting people who were big and angry even angrier was not a good strategy. It's summertime and hoops season is over, but that doesn't keep Nick and Kia off the court. One very hot day they head to the rec center for a swim but end up on the outdoor courts that are usually dominated by older players. Their enjoyment of the court is short-lived, however, when three teens show up and kick the kids and their ball off the court. Nick and Kia don't take well to being bullied, but there's nothing they can do about it. At least not until they run into Jerome "Junk Yard Dog" Williams at a mall promotional event, and Kia enlists the NBA star's help in proving that she and Nick do indeed belong on the same court as the older players. Eric Walters has teamed up with NBA fan-favorite and former Toronto Raptor and current New York Knick Jerome "Junk Yard Dog" Williams for the eighth installment of this best-selling basketball series. Jerome's royalties will help support the JYD Project, which is run by his brother, Johnnie Williams. The JYD Project's goal is to reach more than half a million Canadian and American students over a five-year period with their inspirational message. Triple Threat is the eighth of eight books in the Nick and Kia basketball series. Book one is Three on Three. Book two is Full Court Press. Book three is Hoop Crazy! Book four is Long Shot. Book five is Road Trip. Book six is Off Season. Book seven is Underdog.
